Mix Masters Bartending Academy – Battaramulla
Barista Courses
Course Outline
Barista 36 Training Course is designed to take aspiring coffee professionals on
a complete journey from bean to cup. It begins with an introduction to the world of
baristas — exploring who they are, the art and science behind the craft, and the
essential equipment every barista must master. Trainees then dive into the fascinating
history of coffee, tracing its origins and evolution, while learning about the different
types of coffee beans and how flavor, aroma, and texture vary between varieties and
blends.
The course continues through the entire coffee-making process, from coffee cherry
picking and processing methods to roasting, packaging, and the vital role each stage
plays in defining quality. Next, participants study the technical foundations of
grinding and brewing — understanding grind sizes, extraction, ratios, and brewing
methods like pour-over, French press, and espresso. A special focus is given to
espresso preparation, including dosing, tamping, and machine care, followed by a
detailed study of caffeine, milk management, and allergen awareness.

Students then explore the artistic side of coffee through the science of latte art,
mastering techniques to create smooth microfoam and stunning designs, while
discovering the world of specialty coffee and its culture of craftsmanship and
storytelling. Beyond brewing, the course covers café operations, emphasizing
workflow efficiency, hygiene, cleaning standards, and customer service excellence. It
also highlights the importance of soft skills through modules on barista psychology,
body language, and teamwork — all essential for success in a café environment.
To bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experience, the program
includes a hands-on internship where trainees are placed in actual cafés to work
alongside professional baristas. This practical exposure helps them apply their skills
in live café settings, understand customer dynamics, and gain confidence through real
café operations.
Finally, trainees prepare for real-world opportunities with a professional interview
preparation segment, covering résumé building, communication skills, and confidence
for job success. The program concludes with a final assessment evaluating both
practical and theoretical knowledge, ensuring every graduate leaves not just as a
skilled barista, but as a confident coffee ambassador — ready to make every cup an
experience.
